We’re always on the hunt for new items to add to our ever-expanding collection of vintage props & we get such a buzz when we discover these little (or large!) treasures. However, the discovery part is just the beginning.... what we REALLY love is finding something that requires a bit of TLC.
When you embark on any upcycling project it’s not just about skill or patience, but also the quality of the products you’re working with. For example, we absolutely love using Annie Sloan Chalk Paints and adore their beautiful velvety, matt finish. This range of paints offer a colour palette inspired by 18th and 20th Century decor and design and we feel they complement our vintage props perfectly.
In addition to the Annie Sloan range, we’re also big fans of Farrow & Ball’s colour palettes – all neutral tones that have a softness neither too cool, nor too warm. These neutral colour groups strike exactly the right balance in terms of restoring our props to a more polished finished but still retaining a suitably aged feel.
